What is the citizenship test?
The Canadian citizenship test is administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The only official study guide is *Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship*.
What's on the test?
According to the official page, the guide is used by newcomers to study for the citizenship test and covers:
- Canadian history
- How the government works
- Symbols of Canada and its regions
Official study material
*Discover Canada* is the only official study guide, available free from IRCC. The official page states:
> If you have applied for citizenship and are preparing for the citizenship test, your primary resource should be the official study guide. If you use any other material to prepare for the citizenship test, you do so at your own risk.
It also states:
> You must study the copy of *Discover Canada* provided to you by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. If you do not have this copy, or have a copy issued before 2011, you can view or download it here.
There are minor differences between print, audio, and electronic versions, but they won't affect your preparation.

About third-party materials
The official page warns:
