Nova Scotia MSI Health Card Application Guide

The Nova Scotia Health Insurance Program (MSI) is administered by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness. To be covered for insured healthcare services, you need to apply for a Health Card.

Documents Needed

When applying, you must provide supporting documents proving you are legally entitled to remain in Canada and your current civic address.

Eligibility

Renewal

Renew your Health Card before it expires. You can renew anytime within 3 months before expiry.

Updating Information

Notify MSI of any changes to your personal information.

  • Authorize your spouse or common-law partner to update your address.
  • Change the primary contact for dependants aged 18 or younger (one adult must be registered).
  • Revoke address consent if needed.

Waiting Period When Moving to Nova Scotia
