What happened
The City of Calgary said crews began repairs on Friday, October 16, on a water main that supports the community of Eagle Ridge and Heritage Park. During the repairs, the pipe experienced an unanticipated depressurization and water quality could not be guaranteed. As a precaution, Alberta Health Services ordered a Boil Water Advisory.
The City said the issue is not related to the Bearspaw South Feeder Main and is not impacting Rockyview General Hospital.
To complete repairs, two northbound and two southbound lanes on 14th Street S.W. between 75 Avenue S.W. and Heritage Drive S.W. will be closed until further notice, leaving one lane open in each direction. The City said lane closures may be adjusted depending on the condition of the pipe. The notice describes the repair as challenging and says it will take some time, with significant traffic delays likely.
