Federal: CBSA adjusts hours at 13 Manitoba land ports of entry starting November 1

The Canada Border Services Agency is adjusting opening and closing times at 13 land ports of entry in Manitoba to stay aligned with neighbouring U.S. ports of entry. The new hours take effect at 2:00 a.m. Central Time on November 1, 2026 and remain in place until 2:00 a.m. Central Time on March 14, 2027.

What changed

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is adjusting opening and closing times at 13 land ports of entry in Manitoba to maintain alignment with hours at the neighbouring U.S. ports of entry.

The change follows Manitoba's decision to adopt permanent year-round daylight saving time. Since the United States will continue to change its clocks seasonally, adjusting the operating hours at the Manitoba ports of entry in the fall and spring means alignment of service hours between Canada and the U.S. will be maintained year-round at these 13 sites.

The official page states that these adjustments allow for better coordination between Canada and the U.S., including in cases where a traveller is inadmissible and is directed to return immediately to the country they came from. It also means greater clarity for all travellers as to when the ports of entry are operating.

The official page also states that if a port of entry is not available at the time a traveller needs to cross, travellers can use an alternate port of entry. The CBSA works with emergency services on both sides of the border to ensure that they can cross the border during an emergency situation.
